The Go-Go’s are a criminally underrated band of women who could play their own instruments and write their own songs, a feat rarely heard on the radio back in the 80’s. With their upbeat tunes and devil may care attitude, they helped pave the way for women rockers to follow in their footsteps. Hopefully with less of the drinking and drugs that they experienced, though. They worked hard for what they earned but it also drove wedges between band members which led to decades of “will they, won’t they” feelings. Now they’re together and stronger than ever and we’re here to tell you the story of how that came to be and also shout into the abyss about gender inequality in mainstream music.
